Team Vitality recovered from an early setback to lift the trophy at DreamHack Atlanta.
Vitality easily beat Luminosity in the final losing just ten rounds across two maps. Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire led the way with an average of 1.17 kills per round in the final.
The French team found themselves facing elimination early after a shocking loss against Ghost Gaming in their first match of the tournament. They bounced back and only lost one of their next nine maps.
Much praise has been given to Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbau, Vitality’s young, upcoming AWPer. His excellent performance was crucial to the success of his team in Atlanta as he led the tournament in kills.
ZywOo’s standout moment came in the final on overpass. His precise aim and good decision making allowed him to pick up an ace to prevent Luminosity from taking control of B site.
Next on the agenda for Vitality will be securing a place at the European closed qualifier for the Katowice major.
