NaVi Victorious At BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen

NaVi overcame Ninjas in Pyjamas to lift the BLAST Pro Series Trophy. The CIS team won the best of three final 2-0.

After a loss against FaZe Clan yesterday, NaVi rebounded to win all their remaining group stage games. They finished top of the table and qualified for the final. They faced NiP whose only defeat in the group stage was against NaVi.

The best of three series began on Mirage. NaVi started strongly, they stopped their opponents from being able to pick up any momentum. A key performer was Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev, he found solid form using the AWP and picked up 11 kills with the weapon. His success enabled NaVi to win the map 16-10.

The second map was Inferno, NiP performed better on this map and narrowly lost the first half 8-7. In the second pistol round, Denis ‘electronic’ Sharipov defied the odds to win a 3v1 clutch and retake the bomb site, winning a crucial round for his team. NaVi were then able to control the economy, winning four rounds in a row to take a 12-7 lead. This put NaVi in a great position to close out the map and the tournament, which they eventually did 16-12.

S1mple was voted MVP for the tournament. Speaking to HLTV after the win, he said: “After we lost a few tournaments, the Major and ELEAGUE before the Major, I started to practice even harder because I knew my team need me in any round. So I’m just practising every day and trying to get my form even better.”

NaVi will be in action next weekend at IEM Chicago.
